BioPioneering kwaito sounds in South Africa in the1990s was the music band, Boom Shaka.
The group consisting of four members -Thembi Seete, Lebo Mathosa, Junior Sokhela and Theo Nhlengethwa- incorporated elements of traditional African music with modern urban beats.
The group released several hit albums during their career, including "It's About Time" (1993), "Boom Shaka" (1994), and "The Best of Boom Shaka" (2000). Their hit singles, such as "It's About Time" and "Thobela," became popular anthems in the country and propelled kwaito music into the mainstream.
In 2001, Lebo Mathosa died in a motor accident and Boom Shaka disbanded shortly thereafter.
However, their legacy lives on, and they are still regarded as pioneers of the kwaito genre, having paved the way for future generations of South African musicians to explore and popularize this unique style of music.
